Music From The Email Bag – December 8, 2020

Trailerpark Idlers

And now for something completely different, Swedish Alt-Country. Yes that is correct. I was going through my email and came across a promo from August 2019. Yes, I know, I’m way behind. I do keep them all though and now that I am writing (sort of) again, I am committed to catching up.

Now about the Trailerpark Idlers. They are from are from Norrkoping/Soderkoping, Sweden and formed as a group in 2006. Since then, they have released 14 albums. This tune, The Green Grass Once Again, is taken from their most recent album, Ghost Town Nights. The band lists their influences, and pretty eclectic, as Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Gillian Welch, Bob Wills, Ramones, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Jimmie Rodgers, Rolling Stones, Ernest Tubb. I can believe it. Interesting band, interesting music. If interested, hit the links down below to find out more.

Music From The Mailbag – Callan Furlong

A bit embarrassed on this one.  Callan emailed me in August (yes, August) about his new album.  He hit me in that period when I was not doing much and now only have gotten to this place in the mailbag.  My apologies Callan.
Callan is a Toronto based singer songwriter.  He recently released an album “The Fool I Was Before”.  A bit country, a bit Alt-Country.  I have featured 2 songs off the album.  First is a recording off YouTube of “You Do Everything Wrong”, recorded live at his CD release party.

The next tune is titled “A Rose Or An Olive Branch” and is very country.  Good voice.
